About the AL-KO BM 875 III Scythe Mower

A versatile, powerful & manoeuvrable scythe mower.

With its 87 cm cutting width and 190 cc, 2.4 kW Briggs & Stratton engine, the BM 875 III is perfect for tackling tall grass and tough weeds.

Durable, high-quality design

With its Briggs & Stratton Series 625 engine, which is a 190 cc 2.4 kW model, the BM 875 III not only has excellent power, but from a renowned manufacturer you can trust. In addition, the ESM blades that this machine uses are specially hardened so that they can tackle long grass and thick weeds, while benefiting further from infinitely height-adjustable outsoles. The mower mechanism has an enclosed drive system to reduce the chance of contamination, prolonging service life and operating times.

A comfortable machine to work with

As it has a height-adjustable and ergonomically shaped handlebar combined with vibration damping technology, AL-KO’s BM 875 II is comfortable to operate, allowing you to get the perfect working position for you. It also means it is easier to transport and store.

Manage natural gardens or meadows

The BM 875 III is intended to be used to make light work of long grass or thick, matted weeds. Large, pneumatic wheels ensure it is easy to handle even over rougher terrain and it has a movable grass deflector that means no grass will be left lying on the cover. Improved grass depositing also comes courtesy of a shorter distance between wheel and beam.

Complete with a 2 year conditional domestic warranty.

AL-KO BM 875 III Scythe Mower Reviews

  1. Robert White

Arrived ready to use off the pallet and started first time – despite some confusion as engine handbook referred to a choke mechanism which was not present on my machine. Happily cut through old grass in areas which hadn’t been cut/grazed for a couple of years . Forward speed possibly a bit slow for my liking and I haven’t worked out how to adjust/lower the handlebar height. It cuts lower to the ground than my hand scything so the additional grass to pick up provides some redress for the reduction in exercise. Much easier to handle than the Allan motorscythe I used to use as a teenager 60 years ago. Overall very pleased with my purchase.

  2. Paul Smith

Trying to mow a quarter acre of a meadow proved too much with a conventional lawn mower. This ‘beast’ as I now call it did it all in a quarter of time with ease. Powerful engine and cutting edge made the job so much easier and even enjoyable. Garden Machinery Direct were brilliant throughout the ordering process, tested it all before dispatching, carefully transported and ready to go right off the pallet. Thoroughly recommended this seller and the mower a great buy which is robust enough to last for years.

  3. Sam Lunn

Absolutely brilliant bit of kit, don’t know how we managed without it.

  4. Verena McConnel

Very good product. Quiet motor and very efficient cutting. Professionally packed and delivered on pallet.

  5. roger waistell

brilliant machine, i have been looking for one of these for a long time, adjust the handle, pull the levers & away you go & the 2ft long grass just falls. the hardest part of using this machine is unwraping it when its delivered, many thanks roger w. 5 STARS PLUS.

  6. John Damon

Very good machine for doing the jobs a mower or strimmer struggles with. I find the forward speed perhaps a little too fast for me. Excellent at cutting through reeds that nothing else would touch. Very good for cutting the edges of a woodland path. The engine is the easiest to start of all the petrol mowers I’ve used.

  7. CH

Great product but a little slow if you have a lot of ground to cover as walking pace is slow even without clutter bars engaged. That said for the price it’s a great nit of kit and gets me out of trouble where my mower would have no chance to get the job done. Great company to deal with.
