Benefiting from a 2-MIX engine, the MS 462 C-M enjoys 1-in-4 channel technology with high torque over a wide speed range. You can expect fuel savings of up to 20 percent compared to standard STIHL two-stroke engines in this class, as well as exhaust emissions cut by up to 50 percent.

It also utilises STIHL’s M-Tronic technology, which is a fully electronic engine management system that adjusts ignition timing and fuel metering, taking into account external conditions like temperature, altitude and fuel quality. This ensures a constant maximum speed and excellent acceleration, while because M-Tronic knows whether you are starting cold or warm, the engine starts more easily and only one start position is required on the combi-lever.

Thanks to a great power to weight ratio, this is a fantastic chainsaw to handle, designed from the ground up to be lightweight without compromising on performance or quality. To ensure maximum cutting performance, it is simple to make adjustment to your machine, with the side chain tensioner also removing the need to touch the sharp saw chain itself. A new oil pump system means a higher volume of oil can be delivered, ideal for working in dusty conditions or with a long guide bar, while STIHL’s new HD2 air filter makes use of a radial filter, preventing the intake of fine dust particles. This increases service life and reduces wear.

Simple markings are included on the fan housing to help with plunge cuts during use. This provides better directional control and safer operation. Similarly, the tooth length of the bumper spikes has been adjusted bearing in mind the radial contours of trees, with the saw biting into the wood even better.

Easy to operate & maintain

In addition to the M-Tronic system, a decompression valve helps ensure easy starting, reducing the compression pressure and the amount of effort required to pull the starter rope. Anti-vibration technology dampens the oscillations from the engine to reduce vibrations present in the handles, for particularly comfortable use over long periods. For easy maintenance, tool free filler caps make topping up simple, while captive nuts ensure you won’t risk losing them when changing the cutting attachment.

When the chainsaw is switched off, the control lever instantly returns to the start position so that a warm machine can be immediately restarted.
