The successor to STIHL’s MS 660, the 661 boasts excellent power with a robust and durable design that makes it suitable for professional forestry and big timber harvesting applications. Available with a 28 inch (71 cm) or 36 inch (90 cm) bar lengths.
Powerful & efficient
STIHL’s 5.4kW engine that powers this machine uses their 2-MIX technology to blend performance with efficiency. You can expect fuel savings of up to 20 percent and emission reductions of up to 50 percent compared to non 2-MIX equivalents. On top of this, the Ematic chain lubrication system not only provides maximum lubrication, but can reduce bar oil consumption by up to 50 percent, as well as allowing longer wear.
Easy-to-use, intelligent design
The M-Tronic fully electronic engine management system automatically provides optimal performance, offering consistent engine power, maximum speed and acceleration by taking the external temperature, altitude and fuel quality into account. It adjusts ignition timing and fuel metering to make manual carburettor adjustments unnecessary. With cold/warm start recognition, only one start position is needed on the Combi-Lever, while the engine starts with fewer pulls and can immediately accelerate up to speed. Special catches on the oil and fuel tanks mean they can be opened and locked without tools, and the side-positioned chain tensioner allows easy adjustments to be made.
Comfortable & durable
Due to STIHL’s anti-vibration system present in this machine, vibrations at the handles are significantly reduced as the saw’s engine oscillations are effectively dampened. The ElastoStart system works to reduce the shock caused by the compression of the engine during starting, taking it away from your joints and muscles, and a decompression valve, as well as helping with this, also reduces the level of force required to pull the starter cord. This model uses a HD2 filter to trap even very fine dust particles, while being simple to disassemble and clean.
