The Stihl MS171 chainsaws are new generation saws suited to cutting firewood and property maintenance tasks such as thinning out shrubs and bushes. They can also handle the felling of trees up to 30 cm in diameter. A two stroke engine with stratified charge provides more power with lower weight while lowering fuel consumption by 20% and reducing emissions by 70% compared to other conventional saws. Four channel technology ensures higher torque over a broad rpm range. The Stihl MS171 chainsaws feature a long life air filter system with cyclone air routing which removes 80% of dust particles in the first stage, meaning less collects on the filter, lengthening the time between cleanings. Anti-vibration system dampens oscillations in the engine, consequently minimising vibrations in the handles to make work safer and more comfortable. Intense vibrations can lead to long term effects on the blood vessels so Stihl have ensured the vibration levels are below the safe limit. A compensator acts as a controller, keeping the fuel-air mixture in the carburettor constant for consistent power until a cleaning is needed. Ematic chain lubrication provides maximum lubrication, longer wear and reduced fuel consumption by working with the oilomatic chain to pinpoint exactly where lubrication is required. A side chain tensioner allows the chain to be altered without the need for contact with the sharp chain. The Stihl MS171 chainsaws also feature a single lever master control and special filler caps that can be locked and unlocked without tools.
