Stihl have developed their anti-vibration system to save the user from potential effects intense vibrations may have on blood vessels. Dampers in the engine unit reduce vibrations through the handle to a safe level. A compensator in the carburettor maintains a consistent air-fuel ratio to keep the cutting power constant for as long as possible. When the air filter starts to become clogged the amount of fuel delivered to the carburettor is reduced to keep a healthy combustion mixture. Only when an air filter cleaning is required will the cutting power drop significantly. The MS261 chainsaws have an included decompression valve to make starting easier by reducing the compression pressure and the amount of effort required to pull the starter cord. When pulling the starter ElastoStart takes the shock caused by compressing the engine and diverts it away from the user's joints and muscles away through an elastic or rubber element in the starter handle. The Ematic chain lubrication system works to it's full potential when used with an oilomatic chain to provide maximum lubrication where it is required on chain links and bar rails, keeping oil consumption low and lengthening wear. The Stihl MS261 chainsaws have a tensioning screw, reachable through the sprocket cover, to remove the need for contact with the sharp chain. A single lever master control controls all of the main functions of the chainsaw, including start, choke, throttle and stop. Special filler caps on the fuel and oil tanks allow easy opening and locking without the need for tools. Also available with 13" / 32 cm, 15" / 37 cm and 16" / 40 cm bar lengths and can be used with the HS246 hedgecutter attachment.
