The Cyclone air filter system ensures 80% of dust particles in the air are removed from the saw to before they reach the foam filter to reduce wear on the filter and increase service intervals. The anti-vibration system incorprates dampers in the engine compartment to minimise vibrations through the handle, saving the users hands and arms from the effect intense vibrations can have on blood vessels. The compensator is attached to the carburettor to monitor the combustion mixture. To prevent the mixture becoming to fuel rich when the air filter becomes clogged the compensator reduces the amount of fuel to maintain the same fuel-air ratio. This keeps engine power consistent and a dip in power will only occur when a filter cleaning is necessary. The Stihl MS441 chainsaws feature a decompression valve for easier starting. When used it reduces compression pressure in the engine and minimises the force required when pulling the starter cord. The starter cord's operation is also made more comfortable by ElastoStart technology which diverts the compression shock away from the users joints and muscles through a rubber or elastic element in the starter handle. Ematic chain lubrication maximises lubrication for longer wear while minimising oil consumption by pinpointing the exact saw chain links and guide bar rails where the lubrication is required. A side mounted chain tensioner is housed under the sprocket cover and requires only the turn of a screw with no need to touch the sharp saw chain. Single lever master control lever allows the operator to control all of the main functions, such as the starter, choke, throttle and stop, with a single lever.
