The MS 500i is a petrol-run chainsaw ideal for heavy wood harvesting and preparation thanks to its lightweight concept and superb acceleration. Optimised bumper spikes ensure the saw bites into the wood even better when cutting lengths and felling.

With innovative controlled fuel injection

The MS 500i is the first chainsaw with STIHL’s electronically controlled fuel injection, which gives extremely high performance with low displacement and low weight. It achieves rapid acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 0.25 seconds.

The air pressure and internal and external temperatures are measured and passed onto the control unit, which determines the optimum fuel quantity and ignition timing for an effortless start. 

Featuring an economic and environmentally friendly STIHL 2-MIX-Engine

The economical 2-MIX engine with 1-in-4 channel technology offers consistently high torque. The 2-MIX engine saves up to 20% in fuel consumption, and reduces exhaust emissions by up to 50%, compared to other 2-stroke engines without 2-MIX technology.

A new HD2 air filter reduces the intake of fine dust particles and increases the service life of the engine.

Excellent power-to-weight ratio

Its revolutionary technology and lightweight construction ensures this chainsaw offers the best power-to-weight ratio on the market. A lightweight sprocket cover, compact engine unit, and a flywheel with a low design height and a lightweight crankshaft adapted to the low weight of the flywheel, ensures a more comfortable operation.

It’s packed full of user-friendly features

STIHL ElastoStart takes the compression away from the user’s joints and muscles during starting via a spring or rubber element in the starter handle, making for a comfortable start.

Adjusting the tensioning of the chain can be done without the need for contact with the sharp saw chain, by adjusting the screw on the side of the machine under the sprocket cover. Plus, captive nuts on the sprocket means there is no chance of them being lost when changing the cutting attachment.

The tool-free filler caps mean that opening the fuel and oil tanks is simple, without the need for tools.

The fan housing boasts markings which ensures better directional control, and safer use of the chainsaw, when plunge cutting.

Available with a 20 inch or 25 inch Rollomatic ES light bar

Available with a 20 inch bar or a 25 inch bar, both of which are a Rollomatic ES light bar. The Rollomatic ES light bar has a stable hollow body with a rigid outer structure, made from a special weather-resistant steel. It also features an angled Ematic oil hole, and maintenance-free sealed bearings in the sprocket nose. It is 30% lighter than the standard Rollomatic ES bars.
