STIHL’s battery-operated top handle chainsaw for trained professionals
STIHL‘s MSA 161 T battery-operated top handle chainsaw designed for professional tree maintenance. It offers all the features needed by a trained arborist: consistently high performance, the greatest possibly energy efficiency, and the best possible ergonomics and flexibility in use.
More advanced than the predecessor
Compared to the previous MSA 160 T model, the MSA 161 T chainsaw has a 40% higher chain speed of 16 m/s, and a 15% increase in its EC motor performance, ensuring high performance throughout the entire cut. Complete with a 12 inch bar, and a smooth and extremely efficient 1/4″ PM3 saw chain, with captive nut on the sprocket cover as standard. For safety, the new side-lock button needs to be engaged in order to operate the chainsaw.
This chainsaw is part of STIHL’s AP battery system
Battery power has its advantages over machines run by petrol or electric, not least they are much more quiet – there’s no need for any ear protection – and have zero emissions making them particularly beneficial in sensitive areas. STIHL’s AP System boasts a fleet of professional-grade machines that can all be powered by 1 compatible AP battery.
‘Shell’ means the shell of the machine only and does not include a battery or charger, so these must be purchased separately unless you already have a compatible AP System battery and charger.
The recommended battery for use with this chainsaw is the AP 200 187 Wh Lithium-ion battery, which is able to run for 42 minutes on a single charge and has a charge-level indicator lit by LEDs. The AL 301 quick charger will charge the AP 200 battery to 80% in 40 minutes and to full charge in 55 minutes.
