About the MOUNTFIELD PRINCESS 38Li Freedom Lawn Mower

Quiet, lightweight, packed with premium features and easy to use. No mains cable to drag behind you or get caught in the plants or on furniture, this machine makes cutting your lawn a pleasure. Featuring an innovative 500W brushless motor for easy and efficient work.
Easy & simple operation
This machine allows 6 different heights of cut ranging from 25-75mm. The height of cut can be simply adjusted by a single lever on the lawn mower. Includes a sturdy 40 litre collector, and a 3 in 1 cutting system to allow you to collect, mulch or rear discharge.
Mulch plug included as standard
A mulch plug is also supplied with the machine. Simply insert the mulch plug into the lawn mower and the grass clippings will get cut up finely into a nitrogen rich mulch which is then recycled back into the lawn as a natural fertiliser.
Everything you need to get going
Supplied with two 2 Ah batteries and a standard charger, with the Mountfield Princess 38Li, you can get started with no extras required. They make a great value entry to the Mountfield Freedom range.
The battery supplied with this machine can also be fitted to the other selection of machinery within the ‘Mountfield Freedom’ range. Other items available are: a hedge trimmer, chainsaw, trimmer, small lawn mower, tiller, pole pruner and blower.
This machine is ideal for medium sized gardens.

At first sight I must admit I wasn’t very impressed with this mower. The instruction manual isn’t brilliant and the grass box isn’t a box, it’s a bag. That said, having put it together and charged the batteries, I gave it a run out this morning. The grass was quite long, 3” to 4” inches in places and still a little damp. I put it on height setting 3 and it coped admirably.
Having finished the back lawn, (about 150sq m), the battery still had 3 of 5 lights showing so I thought I would see if it would do the front which is about the same size. It wasn’t quite as long and I finished that with 2 lights showing.
I found the mower very light, (unlike petrol mowers) and the lack of cables was a revelation. completed the two lawns in about 30 minutes, half the time it took to do it with my old electric mower and extension leads!
So, very pleased at the moment. The only reason for 4 stars is that I’m unable to say if it will stand the test of time as my 15 year old electric has done.

A good tip from Robert Rees on fitting the Freedom 48 box as similar to his experience I am disappointed having to buy this excellent new mower after only 8 years using the Freedom mower.

Very good but the collection box is rubbish I had the Freedom 48 before (which the batteries died on my & I can’t buy any more) so I using the hard collection box from that on my new machine.
