About the STIHL HLA 56 Cordless Long-reach Hedge Trimmer (Kit)
A lightweight long-reach hedge trimmer from STIHL
STIHL’s HLA 56 long reach hedge trimmer is battery-operated and is part of their versatile AK System, which utilises one interchangeable battery for a whole range of garden power tools. The long-reach hedge trimmer allows for the cutting and maintenance of taller shrubs and hedges in domestic gardens. The head can be adjusted from -45º to +90º for trimming the majority of hedges with ease.
Not just your ordinary hedge trimmer blade
The double-sided 45 cm blade is diamond ground for a precise cut every time. It also boasts a tip protector to prevent damage when trimming near the ground and along walls, as well as integrated cut protection to reduce the risk of the blade making contact with the users leg.
Despite its length, transport and storage is a breeze
Although the machine is 210 cm long when built, it can easily be split down enabling you to transport and store the hedge trimmer away with ease. A wall bracket is included to hold the 3 individual pieces, for a convenient storage solution.
The set contains everything you need to get trimming
The set is comprised of the shell, 1 AK 20 battery, and an AL 101 charger. The AK 20 battery will run for up to 100 minutes or cut up to 380m2 of hedge with one full charge. The recommended charger is the AL 101 standard charger, which will restore the AK 20 battery to full power in 180 minutes, and has a useful LED indicator, a velcro strap for containing the electrical cable, and it can be wall mounted if desired.

I bought the HLA 56 with a AK20 battery and an Extension Shaft. The price was very competitive and it was despatched promptly. It is a well made product and cuts extremely well. A little unwieldy when using the Extension Shaft but it enabled me to cut the full width of a Leylandii hedge from one side. And after an hour an a half then battery was still showing a 50% charge.

Fantastic piece of kit, easily cuts through thick Laurel branches on our hedge leaving a clean neat cut. Battery holds charge for more than 50 minutes of heavy duty cutting. Great reach to those high areas. Expensive but you really do get what you pay for.
