About the MOUNTFIELD PRINCESS 38 Electric Lawn Mower

Treat your garden like royalty with a Mountfield Princess

The Princess 38 is one of Mountfield’s best-selling push lawnmowers, and it’s easy to see why as this electric model is lightweight, quiet, and easy to use. The lawnmower has a 38 cm cutting width and a 15 metre electric cable, making it suitable for small domestic lawns.

Electricity is more economical and environmental friendly compared to petrol

The Princess 38 has a powerful 1600 Watt mains electric motor. Electric lawnmowers have numerous benefits: there is no need to change spark plugs, fuel filters, or oil, and there’s no need to refuel, saving time and money. Electric machines also better for the environment, emitting zero harmful emissions.

A superb cutting performance…

For the perfect cut, there are 6 preset cutting heights ranging from 25 mm – 75mm to choose from; to select a height of cut, you simply adjust a single lever which is allocated on the side of the machine. It is also fitted with a rear roller between the rear wheels, to give a desirable striped finish to your lawn when cutting on a lower cutting height. This lawnmower also features a safety brake to ensure the blade stops rotating within 3 seconds of the user releasing the switch.

…however you choose to cut: collect, discharge, or mulch

The Princess 38 boasts a 40 Litre grass textile collector if you wish to collect the grass cuttings- or without if you wish to leave them on the lawn, the grass deflector flap directs the grass clippings down if desired. The lawnmower can also be used as a mulching mower using the mulch plug supplied, to finely shred clippings and almost invisibly disperse them onto the ground, acting as a natural fertiliser.

This machine comes with a 2 year warranty.

MOUNTFIELD PRINCESS 38 Electric Lawn Mower Reviews

Have had this product twice before, which is why I ordered it again. I think the last one performed well for around10 years, which I thought pretty good considering it had no maintenance and was expected to cut all sorts of uneven and overgrown areas. The previous one before that, maybe 15-20 years.

Apart from the rear roller, which seems smaller / more lightweight?, this model appears exactly the same, thankfully. I was able to put it together fairly easily and it mows the lawn, job done.

Your staff were very friendly and helpful when I needed to delay the delivery.

  2. Pat

Excellent product. We particularly like the mulching feature.

  3. Mr Graham Burt

First class order and delivery service and this lawnmower is the best I have owned since I purchased my first one in 1980

  4. A satisfied customer

well made and cuts very well. A bit noisy but I think they all are. My second Mountfield and a bit more powerful.

  5. Vic G

Very well built. Does the job. Could do with a couple of clips to wind the lead when not in use.

  6. M J Harris

Found the grass box difficult to assemble, the plastic cable restrainer snapped when trying to fit the cable, noisier than expected , and harder to push than my previous electric mower

  7. Mrs Jackie Doyle

Excellent product easy to put together and easy to use

  8. Paul Nicholson

Its a huge disappointment. It failed on first use – within 10 seconds. The roller, which is not solid but made from two semi-cylinder plastic mouldings that fit to each other like the fingers of two hands clasping each other, came loose. I was alerted to this from the noisy action of the mower that sounded like I was mowing a bed of rocks. I snapped the pieces back together and tried again but they came apart again this time almost completely. The machine lacks solidity and feels like a child’s cheap plastic motor car. I wish I had never bought it. What are the manufacturers thinking of? Also, the mower left random piles of grass (like mole hills) which left me having to rake the lawn afterwards. This may or may not be the result of the roller problem. I will only know if and when I can fix the roller.

after years of (many) Flymos, I finally got fed up with the poor cut and short obsolescence. Having bought and used this Mountfield I can confirm its quality and ease of use. Plus of course the big bonus – it does a great cut on my lawn.

  10. Steve

Great little mower. I have used Flymos for 25 years, but they are really not so good now, so tried this Mountfield. The quality is good, it’s easy and quick to assemble, and does a great job on my lawn. Recommended!
