Overview of the AL-KO BM 875 IV Scythe Mower
With a gross weight of 55 kg, the AL-KO BM 875 IV Scythe Mower features a premium Loncin 139 OHV engine, one forward gear (no reverse) and automatic choke. It has a generous cutting width of 87 cm (34 inches) with edge protection, as well as specially hardened ESM blades, which are expertly designed to ensure supreme cutting performance and outstanding longevity. The cutting height of the blade bar can be adjusted to between 2.5 cm and 6 cm.
The Loncin 139 OHV Engine
The AL-KO BM 875 IV is powered by a top-quality Loncin 139 OHV engine, which is very easy to start. It powers the wheel drive via a worm gear and has an impressive power output of 2.3 kW (3.1 hp), ensuring the fast and even operation of the cutter head.
Relatively quiet considering its power, this superior engine helps the mower make very easy work of cutting through tall grass and the toughest of weeds.
An Ergonomic Mower
With its compact design and ergonomically shaped handlebar, the AL-KO BM875 is a wonderful scythe mower to use for demanding jobs. This handlebar is fully adjustable too, so you’ll always maintain a healthy posture while working, regardless of your height.

The Enclosed Drive System and Adjustable Grass Deflector
The AL-KO BM875 also features an enclosed drive system, which significantly reduces the build-up of soil and grass residues on the blade, so prolonging the machine’s operating time and lengthening its service life.
The adjustable grass deflector prevents grass from sitting on the machine’s cover, eliminating unnecessary stoppages and allowing you to fully concentrate on your mowing.

Excellent piece of kit. I’ve been looking for something like this for years. When grass and weeds are over 9 inches high, the conventional mower just flattens them, then they bounce back. This cuts practically anything. I had neglected an area since last year, and the nettles and bracken were 7 feet tall! This cut through them. The difficulty was seeing where I was going. It’s unstoppable. I call it the Arnie!

Arrived ready to use off the pallet and started first time – despite some confusion as engine handbook referred to a choke mechanism which was not present on my machine. Happily cut through old grass in areas which hadn’t been cut/grazed for a couple of years . Forward speed possibly a bit slow for my liking and I haven’t worked out how to adjust/lower the handlebar height. It cuts lower to the ground than my hand scything so the additional grass to pick up provides some redress for the reduction in exercise. Much easier to handle than the Allan motorscythe I used to use as a teenager 60 years ago. Overall very pleased with my purchase.

Very good machine for doing the jobs a mower or strimmer struggles with. I find the forward speed perhaps a little too fast for me. Excellent at cutting through reeds that nothing else would touch. Very good for cutting the edges of a woodland path. The engine is the easiest to start of all the petrol mowers I’ve used.

Great product but a little slow if you have a lot of ground to cover as walking pace is slow even without clutter bars engaged. That said for the price it’s a great nit of kit and gets me out of trouble where my mower would have no chance to get the job done. Great company to deal with.
