About the ALLETT KENSINGTON 14B Petrol Cylinder Lawn Mower

Allett Kensington 14B Petrol Cylinder Lawn Mower – A Premium Choice for the Passionate Gardener

If you take a pride in your lawn and only the best mower will do, the Allett Kensington is the petrol cylinder lawnmower for you. Expertly engineered as the top-tier cartridge model in the Allett Homeowner range, the Kensington should be the go-to choice for anyone who wants a beautifully striped, expertly cut lawn. With its meticulous attention to detail and exceptional versatility, this self-propelled mower is designed to elevate your mowing experience from routine to remarkable.

Power and Performance in Perfect Balance

The smallest model in Allett’s esteemed Kensington range, the 14B is powered by an ultra-reliable 127cc XR550 Briggs & Stratton petrol engine, combining high levels of performance with a user-friendly recoil start. This engine ensures smooth operation and consistent cutting, even across varied grass conditions. Its self-propelled drive system means you’ll cover ground effortlessly, with nothing to do but guide the mower on a steady path. With a 36cm cutting width (14 inches), generous 2-litre fuel tank, and maximum noise level of just 96 dB(A), this Allett mower is perfectly suited to domestic lawns up to 400m2 in size.

Precision Cutting for a Picture-Perfect Lawn

One of the standout features of this petrol cylinder lawn mower is its six-bladed cutting cylinder, capable of making 79 cuts per metre. It delivers a fine, clean finish that promotes healthy grass growth and enhances the appearance of your lawn. Whether you’re maintaining short ornamental grass or cutting slightly longer turf, the Kensington 14B’s micro height adjustment system ensures you achieve your desired finish. The height of cut can be set between 6mm and 32mm, using a clever micro-set system for finely tuned results.

Exceptional Stripes for a Professional Finish

Classic lawn stripes are the hallmark of a beautifully mowed lawn, and the Kensington 14B delivers them with ease. A zinc-plated steel front roller and heavy-duty, single-section steel rear roller work in tandem to create clear, lasting stripes. An adjustable grass rake teases out dead material and moss, while the spring tine comb lifts the blades of grass upright, ensuring an even trim across the surface. Combined, this helps create a lush, healthy lawn, with a truly professional finish.

Versatile Cartridge System for Complete Lawn Care

Another of the Kensington 14B’s key selling points is its unrivalled versatility. Thanks to Allett’s Quick Exchange (QX) system, it’s simple to remove the standard blade cassette for sharpening or replacement. Better still, you can completely transform your mower by inserting any of Allett’s range of cartridges. Available to buy as optional extras, these include an aerator, scarifier, lawn brush, dethatcher, and Verticut—all of which enable year-round lawn maintenance tailored to your garden’s needs. You can even upgrade to a ten-bladed cutting cylinder for an ultra-fine finish.

Other Notable Features

Weighing 47.5 kg with the grass box, the Kensington 14B measures 890 mm in height, 510 mm in width, and 1,420 mm in length with the grass box fitted. It is an exceptionally sturdy and stable petrol lawnmower to use. Its design includes three handlebar height positions, allowing you to adopt a healthy posture for comfortable mowing. When not in use, the handlebars fold neatly to save space in the shed or for easy transportation. An auxiliary wheel kit is supplied as standard, which elevates the mower for tackling longer grass. The generous 52-litre grass collector provides ample room for cuttings, so you can spend less time emptying its contents and more time perfecting your lawn.

ALLETT KENSINGTON 14B Petrol Cylinder Lawn Mower Reviews

1 review for ALLETT KENSINGTON 14B Petrol Cylinder Lawn Mower

  1. Brian Capstick

I have had one of these machines for many years. It is a good mower but the exchangeable cartridges are less successful. Changing the cassettes requires the removal of at least six screws before a cassette can be removed and then it takes two strong men to remove it. Inserting the new cassette is easier, but you still have the screws to replace. `A more fundamental problem is that most of the cassettes are designed to lift the grass up, but the roller promptly flattens it again before it can be cut. My advice would be to be a dedicated machine to take the maintenance reels.
