About the STIHL BG 86 Petrol Handheld Leaf Blower
Using a Stihl petrol blower is a wonderful way to remove damp, hard-to-shift leaves, and similar debris, from the ground. The machine will effortlessly blow them into manageable piles, which can then quickly be disposed of, to help you enjoy a cleaner, tidier garden.
This model is Stihl’s most powerful hand-held petrol leaf blower, making it perfectly suited to removing the most stubborn of leaves, and for use in larger gardens.
Overview of the Stihl BG 86 Petrol Blower
Suitable for heavy-duty domestic or commercial use, the Stihl B86 blower weighs 4.4kg, features a 2-MIX low-emission engine, and blowing force of 15N. This low-maintenance, highly efficient 27.2cc engine has lower fuel consumption and exhaust emissions than your average petrol blower, so it’s both better for the environment and cheaper for you to run.
The B86 Petrol Blower’s manual fuel pump reduces the number of strokes required to fire up the engine, making it quicker and easier to start. This feature is particularly useful after extended breaks in its operation.
(Please note that the Stihl BG 86 runs on a mixture of unleaded petrol and high-quality 2-stroke engine oil. It comes with a recommended fuel ratio of 50:1, petrol to oil.)
The BG 86’s Blowing Capacity
This petrol blower is supplied with both a round and flat nozzle. It can achieve an air velocity of up to 76 m/s with the former and up to 89 m/s with the latter, so will make exceptionally short work of clearing those leaves.
The BG 86 Petrol Blower’s Filter
Made from polyethylene, the BG 86’s HD2 Filter ensures the blower’s performance is not adversely affected when used in particularly dusty, debris-intensive areas. Its oil and water repellent qualities really do keep even the finest particles of dust and dirt away from the blower’s working parts.
An Ergonomically Designed Petrol Blower
The ergonomically designed BG 86 Blower features both a soft-grip handle, and an anti-vibration system, which make it far easier and more comfortable to use than most garden blowers.
What’s more, this BG86 leaf blower’s throttle lock lever allows you to maintain a much more relaxed grip on the handles, when manoeuvring the machine, so you’ll find it a lot less taxing to use over prolonged periods of time.
The Stihl B86 Blower Is Great for Your Neighbours Too!
The BG86 Leaf Blower is also fitted with a muffler to reduce its noise emissions, without having any negative impact on performance. This means you can enjoy all the benefits of a cleaner, tidier garden, while remaining on excellent terms with your neighbours!
(We still advise wearing suitable hearing protection when operating any petrol blower.)

This Stihl BG86 leaf blower is fantastic! Made the mistake of buying a Hyundai blower last year and had nothing but trouble with it, should have bought this stihl blower to start with as it is superior in every way built to last and very reliable. Don’t buy cheap its not worth it.

I wouldn’t put anyone off buying this model as it performs well, however, starting it can be a little tricky due to balancing issues when pulling starter cord. The blower tends to lift/move to the left, even when pressure is applied to the holding handle…I’ve got round this by placing the blower next to something while starting it which stops it shifting to the left when pulling starter cord.

On start-up,the machine sounds like the small-end is rattling. This noise is constant.
My last bg86 didn’t make this noise.
GMD took the machine back and checked it for me.
It’s the revised pull-start system apparently.
Apart from that, the machine works fine.
