About the STIHL FS 461 C-EM L Clearing Saw
Ideal for professionals in landscaping, agriculture and forestry, the STIHL FS 461 C-EM L Clearing Saw is perfectly equipped for removing very challenging areas of tough vegetation.
(Please note that this particular version of the STIHL FS 461 is fitted with a long shaft, so is suited to taller users.)
Overview of the STIHL FS 461 C-EM L Clearing Saw
The FS 461 C EM L Clearing Saw is fitted with a highly efficient, low-maintenance STIHL 2-MIX engine with stratified charge, which completely complies with the EU’s rigorous Stage V emissions directive. It has a displacement of 45.6 cm³ and maximum power output 2.2 kW (3 hp).
Weighing 8.6 kg (without the fuel, cutting tool and protection), this premium clearing saw comes with an AutoCut 46-2 mowing head and cutting circle diameter of 520 mm. The tool’s sound power level is 110 dB(A), with a sound pressure level at the operator’s ear of 101 dB(A).
(The STIHL FS 461 C EM L runs on a mixture of 50 parts unleaded petrol to one part STIHL 2-stroke engine oil.)
STIHL ErgoStart
The STIHL FS 461 C EM features STIHL ErgoStart, which is an exceptionally efficient and reliable starting mechanism. It includes an additional spring between the crankshaft and starter cord reel, so all that’s required to fire the engine up is a smooth, even pull on the starter cord.
The Benefit of a Manual Fuel Pump
The manual fuel pump also reduces the number of strokes required to start the engine, being particularly useful after extended breaks in the tool’s operation.
(To use, actuate the pump several times before starting the engine to ensure there is enough petrol in the carburettor.)
STIHL M-Tronic
This petrol clearing saw boasts STIHL M-Tronic version 3.0 too. This fully electronic engine management system regulates the ignition timing and fuel metering after taking into account external conditions, like temperature, altitude and fuel quality.
New and Improved Gearbox
The technically enhanced gearbox boasts improvements to the sealing system, main bearing and lubricant circulation, resulting in increased strength, an optimised gear ratio and longer service life.
An Ergonomically Designed Clearing Saw
With its new shape and side-mounted locking lever, the STIHL FS461C is designed to promote intuitive operation.
The ADVANCE Grip handles have a similar design to a bicycle and are fully adjustable, making this tool very comfortable to use. They are adjusted using the central clamping device, without the need for tools.
When used in tandem with the harness, these handles ensure the clearing saw is easy to guide in a smooth, flowing action.
The FS461C EM’s Multi-Function Handle
In keeping with this ergonomic design, all of the STIHL FS 461 CEM’s important controls are incorporated into one multi-function handle. Suitable for both left and right-handed users, it can be operated with just one hand.
STIHL’s Anti-Vibration System
STIHL’s 4-point anti-vibration system includes buffer and spring elements that dampen the engine’s vibrations before they reach the handles. This makes the FS 461 C EM far more comfortable to operate than most clearing saws.
The Compensator
The compensator is a control system within the carburettor, designed to ensure that the engine’s performance, fuel consumption and emissions remain consistent over time, despite the air filter’s increasing contamination.
The result of this is that you don’t need to clean the air filter until there’s a noticeable drop in the tool’s performance, so reducing its maintenance requirements.
Quick Stop and Restart
This clearing saw’s stop button lets you turn off the machine quickly and simply. Then, when you’re ready to resume work, the button automatically springs back into its original position as you actuate the pump, so you’re all ready to go.
The STIHL FS 461’s Fuel Tank
The STIHL FS 461 C EM comes with a large 0.75-litre fuel tank, so you can spend more time sawing before you need to top up.
As the tank has a transparent design, you can clearly see when more fuel is required. A spacious, easily accessible opening makes this a simple, straightforward job.
