Advanced Oil Monitoring and Clear Status Display

The chainsaw features a large LED display providing important operating information instantly. This display includes a chain oil sensor that warns users when oil levels are low. It also shows the chain brake position for improved safety awareness. Clear visual feedback reduces downtime and prevents accidental operation issues. The electronic trigger system with unlock button allows controlled and simple activation.

Excellent Balance and Reduced User Fatigue

The outstanding power-to-weight ratio makes the MSA 220 TC-O comfortable during extended use. Its compact and perfectly balanced design supports confident handling in elevated positions. When paired with the AP 300 S battery, balance is optimised for reduced wrist strain. This counterbalancing improves control while working at height or in confined spaces. Professional users benefit from improved precision and reduced fatigue across long workdays.

Simple Chain Adjustment and Secure Component Design

The side-mounted chain tensioning system enables quick and protected chain adjustment. The tensioning screw is positioned laterally through the sprocket cover for convenience. This design allows safe re-tensioning without unnecessary contact with cutting components. The captive nuts on the sprocket cover prevent accidental loss during maintenance. This feature saves time and avoids interruptions caused by misplaced parts.

Efficient Cooling and Easy Maintenance

The chainsaw uses a non-woven air filter to protect internal electronics and engine components. This filter removes sawdust, fine dust, and debris from the cooling airflow. Clean airflow ensures long-term protection of heat sinks and internal parts. The filter can be easily cleaned using STIHL Varioclean and reused repeatedly. Regular cleaning supports consistent performance and long service life.

Secure Handling and Practical Storage Features

A fold-out suspension hook allows safe attachment to ropes during climbing operations. This hook enables easy lifting or lowering of the chainsaw within the tree. It can also be used to secure the tool when not actively cutting. When folded away, the hook does not interfere with operation or storage. This improves safety and flexibility during professional arborist work.

Weather Resistance and Proven Cutting Equipment

The MSA 220 TC-O is IPX4 rated, allowing use in wet weather conditions. This provides confidence when working in unpredictable outdoor environments. The chainsaw is supplied with a 1.3mm 3/8” P PS3 saw chain as standard. It also features the Light P04 guide bar for increased cutting efficiency. This combination delivers fast cutting with reduced vibration and improved control.

Battery Compatibility and Runtime Information

This model is supplied as a tool-only unit, without battery or charger included. For full performance, it must be used with an AP 300 S or AP 500 S battery. The AP 300 S battery offers the best balance and up to 29 minutes runtime. The AP 500 S battery increases runtime to approximately 34 minutes. Using the larger battery may slightly affect balance during extended use.
