If you need to scarify or dethatch a small, irregular lawn, up to 250 m² in size, the STIHL RLA 240 is the scarifier for you. And as this garden machine operates using a 36 v lithium-ion battery, it produces zero emissions and gives you complete freedom of movement, without the encumbrance of electrical leads.

Overview of the STIHL RLA 240 Cordless Scarifier

Part of STIHL’s AK System of tools, the STIHL RLA 240 Cordless Lawn Scarifier features both fixed scarifying blades for aerating the turf and a spring tine roller attachment for combing the dead grass and moss out of the lawn. It has a rated power of 900 w and working width of 34 cm (13.4 inches), so offers exceptional levels of manoeuvrability.

The machine’s guaranteed sound power level is 94 dB(A), with a sound pressure level at the operator’s ear of just 77 dB(A). This makes it a great choice of scarifier for use in residential (and other noise sensitive) areas.

Robust Housing

Weighing 14 kg (without the battery), this STIHL cordless scarifier is built with sturdy polymer housing, which is light in weight but exceptionally robust and durable. This housing provides effective protection to the engine unit from various types of spillage and UV rays.

Smooth-Running Wheels

The wheels are extremely well made too. They provide excellent traction and directional stability, so you remain in complete control of the scarifier, while effortlessly manoeuvring it around your lawn.

The Spring Tine Roller

The RLA 240 Cordless Lawn Scarifier comes with a spring tine roller attachment to give you the option of combing the moss and thatch from the surface of your lawn, without making cuts in the turf. It can be quickly installed, just by following a few simple steps.

Adjustable Working Depth

This cordless scarifier is designed with a working depth that can easily be adjusted by raising or lowering the machine’s operating height.

(The attachments can be adjusted to operate from 7.5 mm above ground level to 9.5 mm below its surface.)

The Collector Box

And thanks to its collector box’s spacious 50-litre capacity, when you’re using the STIHL Scarifier RLA 240, you’ll get to spend more time scarifying and less time emptying the box’s contents.

Transportation and Storage

The STIHL RLA 240 Battery Scarifier is fitted with two practical handles, positioned over the centre of the unit. This ensures you can easily carry the scarifier to and from its place of storage, without awkward tilting and potentially causing damage to the machine.

When not in use, the scarifier’s handlebar can be folded down for space-saving garden storage.

Battery Running and Charging Times

Powered by a STIHL AK 20 battery, the RLA 240 can cover a lawn up to 250 m² in size on a single charge. A spring mechanism makes removing one of these lithium-ion batteries simple.

An AL 101 charger will restore the battery to full power (from 0 – 100 %) in 180 minutes.
