About the HONDA FG201 Petrol Mini Tiller
Honda FG201 Petrol Mini Tiller: Perfect for Preparing Small Plots
The Honda FG201 Petrol Mini Tiller is designed to make soil preparation simpler and far less tiring. Ideal for small plots, raised beds, and garden borders, this compact machine brings Honda’s expert engineering to everyday cultivation tasks. It offers an excellent balance of strength, control, and ease of use, making it ideal for gardeners who want reliable results without the backbreaking effort of manual digging.
Although compact in size, the FG201 is built with the same attention to detail as larger Honda tillers. It is comfortable to handle, straightforward to store, and robust enough to cope with regular use. For light ground preparation, this mini tiller can always be relied on to deliver premium levels of performance.
Efficient and Reliable Honda Engine
At the heart of this petrol mini tiller is a proven engine that delivers smooth and dependable power. The FG201 is powered by a 49cc 4-stroke OHC GXV50 Honda engine, producing 1.3kW at 4,800rpm, equivalent to 1.7hp. This engine is well known for its reliability, minimal vibrations, and efficient fuel use.
Starting is simple thanks to the recoil system, while the automatic centrifugal clutch ensures smooth engagement as the engine speed increases. The fuel tank holds 0.35 litres, which is very well suited to lighter cultivation sessions without adding unnecessary weight. Noise levels are kept low at just 79dB(A) at the operator’s ear, keeping you comfortable during use.
Efficient Transmission and Tilling Action
The Honda FG201 tiller uses a single forward speed transmission with a worm gear system. This design provides greater torque than the screw gear systems commonly found on other mini cultivators. As a result, the tiller maintains steady progress even when working heavier soil or compacted ground.
Supplied with four 4-tooth shredder tines, the machine digs and cultivates simultaneously. These tines break down soil effectively, improving aeration and leaving the ground well prepared for planting. With a maximum working width of 300mm (12 inches) and a depth of up to 230mm (9 inches), the FG201 is ideal for vegetable patches, flower beds, and border maintenance.
Compact Design and Easy Handling
Despite its solid construction, the Honda FG 201 mini tiller remains lightweight and easy to manage. With a dry weight of just 17kg, it can be lifted, transported, and positioned without strain. A central carrying handle adds further convenience when moving the machine between working areas or into storage.
The foldable handle allows this tiller to be stored neatly in sheds, garages, or garden buildings where space may be limited. Overall dimensions are 1,185mm (L) x 455mm (W) x 980mm (H), giving a compact footprint without compromising performance.
Optional Accessories for Increased Versatility
The Honda FG201 offers added flexibility with optional rear transport wheels. These make it easier to move the tiller across paths, driveways, and other hard surfaces, improving handling when positioning the machine around the garden.
This practical optional extra enhances everyday usability, making the Honda FG201 even more convenient to work with while maintaining its compact, easy-to-use design.
Built to Last with Outstanding Warranty
Honda is known for building products that stand the test of time, and this mini tiller is no exception. Every Honda FG201 Petrol Mini Tiller is backed by a superb five-year warranty for domestic use or one-year warranty for professional use. This cover includes both parts and labour and retains full value throughout the warranty period.
This level of support reflects Honda’s confidence in the FG201’s engineering and durability, offering you complete reassurance from the very first day of use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is the Honda FG201 suitable for beginner gardeners?
Yes, it’s ideal for novice gardeners. The FG201 is both very easy to use and light in weight, making it well suited to beginners as well as experienced gardeners working on small plots.
Maintain Your Honda Products Properly
To keep your Honda petrol machinery running at its best, use standard pump fuels such as SP95, SP98, or SP95-E10.
While Honda doesn’t supply alkylate fuel, its use is permitted.
It’s important to always add a fuel stabiliser, especially if you’re storing fuel for more than a few weeks, as this helps prevent engine issues and keeps the fuel fresh.
Fuel should be stored in small amounts (no more than 5 litres) in a sealed container, away from heat and sunlight. Use within one month unless treated with a stabiliser.
At the end of the season—or if the machine won’t be used for a while—it’s recommended to drain the fuel tank and follow the storage advice in the user manual.

Nice tiller but the pins that hold the tines on are to small and bent out of shape after second usage, but i’d still buy it again
