About the HONDA FG320 Petrol Compact Tiller

Honda FG320 Petrol Tiller – Compact Size, Serious Cultivating Power

When space is tight but soil conditions demanding, the Honda FG320 Petrol Compact Tiller delivers the performance that serious gardeners expect from a premium machine. Designed for larger flower beds, vegetable plots, and regular ground preparation, this Honda tiller combines expert engineering with smooth, controlled operation—making light work of heavy, compacted soil.

Despite its relatively compact size, the FG320 Honda rotavator boasts the strength and durability of a much larger machine. From its powerful petrol engine to solid transmission and well-balanced chassis, every element is designed to drive power exactly where it matters most—deep into the soil.

Compact Design with Impressive Performance

The FG320 Honda tiller offers an ideal balance between manoeuvrability and working capacity. It’s light enough to handle confidently around beds and borders, yet strong enough to tackle demanding cultivation tasks with ease.

With a maximum tilling width of 800mm (31 inches) and a working depth of up to 325mm (13 inches), this cultivator is well suited to gardeners who want thorough soil preparation without stepping up to a bulky, heavy-duty model. Whether you’re breaking new ground or refreshing established plots, the FG320 Honda tiller delivers consistent, high-quality results.

Smooth, Reliable Honda Engine

At the heart of this machine is a proven Honda GP160 4-stroke OHV engine, delivering 3.4kW at 3,600rpm (4.6hp) from its 163cc displacement. Known for reliability, fuel efficiency, and smooth power delivery, this engine provides plenty of torque to maintain steady performance even in challenging soil conditions.

With 10.3Nm of torque at 2,500rpm, the FG320 maintains impressive pulling power without excessive revving, helping to reduce operator fatigue while improving control. A 2.4-litre fuel tank allows for extended working sessions, while the recoil start system ensures straightforward, dependable starting every time.

Independent Drive System for Precise Control

The FG320 Honda tiller includes constant mesh transmission, which delivers smooth engagement of the gears and prolongs service life. The drive system is independent of tine speed, so you can regulate the machine’s forward motion separately from cultivating performance, giving you far greater control over the finish.

With one forward speed and one reverse gear, this Honda tiller is simple to operate while remaining versatile enough for different soil conditions.

Effective Tine System and Plant Protection

The FG320 is supplied with six sets of four-tooth digging tines, designed to break up soil efficiently and maintain consistent depth across the working width. The forward tine speed of 108rpm delivers strong cutting action, while the reverse speed of 53rpm improves manoeuvrability in tighter areas.

Side discs provide useful protection if you’re cultivating soil next to established crops. They also help maintain direction in softer soil, producing a cleaner finish along borders and paths. This makes the FG320 Honda tiller ideal for gardeners who value both performance and presentation.

Practical Handling and Operator Comfort

Honda has designed the FG320 to be practical and comfortable to use, even during longer sessions. A swing handle helps you avoid walking on freshly cultivated soil, while simple height-adjustment ensures you can maintain a healthy working posture.

The front transport wheel makes moving this Honda tiller between work areas straightforward, and its well-balanced chassis gives stable handling during operation. With dimensions of 1,500mm L x 837mm W x 980mm H and a dry weight of 53kg, the FG320 remains reassuringly solid but never cumbersome.

Built to Last with Honda Warranty Support

As with all Honda products, the FG320 Honda tiller is expertly engineered to withstand regular use and deliver long-term reliability. To back this up, Honda offers an unrivalled 5-year warranty for domestic use or a 1-year professional warranty, covering both parts and labour. Importantly, the warranty maintains its full value throughout the entire period, subject to the recommended service schedule being followed.

A Compact Tiller for Serious Gardeners

The Honda FG320 Petrol Tiller is perfect for gardeners who want professional-level performance from a compact, easy-to-handle machine. With its powerful engine, precise transmission, effective tine system, and intelligent ergonomics, it delivers consistent results across a wide range of soil types.

So, if you’re looking for a compact tiller that doesn’t compromise on power, durability, or finish quality, buy the FG320 Honda Tiller today—it’s a dependable investment built by a trusted brand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is the Honda FG320 suitable for breaking up hard or previously uncultivated soil?

Yes. This Honda tiller is well suited to tougher soil conditions thanks to its powerful 163cc Honda GP160 engine, strong gearbox, and efficient four-tooth digging tines.

Q: How easy is the Honda FG320 to manoeuvre and transport?

Despite its solid build, the FG320 is very easy to handle. It has relatively compact dimensions and features a front transport wheel for moving the machine between work areas. The swing handle makes working along edges easier, while both forward and reverse gears make turning and repositioning straightforward in tighter spaces.

Maintain Your Honda Products Properly

To keep your Honda petrol machinery running at its best, use standard pump fuels such as SP95, SP98, or SP95-E10.
While Honda doesn’t supply alkylate fuel, its use is permitted.

It’s important to always add a fuel stabiliser, especially if you’re storing fuel for more than a few weeks, as this helps prevent engine issues and keeps the fuel fresh.

Fuel should be stored in small amounts (no more than 5 litres) in a sealed container, away from heat and sunlight. Use within one month unless treated with a stabiliser.

At the end of the season—or if the machine won’t be used for a while—it’s recommended to drain the fuel tank and follow the storage advice in the user manual.

I cannot fault the FG320 tiller, I have recently used the machine on soil that had not been turned. This was a very bumpy experience as expected but this machine is a beast. I did not experience any issues with the handles not tightening properly. All round this is a very good product.

  2. John Allan

I cannot fault the FG320 tiller for power and ability to cultivate ground that has not been turned over before. It even brings up large stones to the surface.
I could have done without the ability to turn the handles to the side as I find that is never necessary with a rotovator. It doesn’t matter how tight you make the locking lever, the handles still move either way while under load and pulling the handles sideways to get the tiller back in line. That is only going to get worse over time with wear.
The clutch drive belt looks nice and strong but unfortunately the pulley wheel driving the belt to turn the tines is made from some sort of plastic. It should have been metal.
It is difficult to give a star rating on a new piece of equipment. Only time will tell but somewhere between 3 and 4 is probably about right at this stage.
