You have the freedom to choose the right combination to suit your requirements, or you can use any AP battery and charger you already have in your fleet. However, STIHL recommend the AP 200 battery for optimum performance.

When prolonged use is required, STIHL’s backpack batteries are recommended to maintain consistently high performance without interruption. In order to use a backpack battery with this machine, you’ll need a backpack battery set, comprising of an AP Adapter, AR L Battery Connecting Cable, and the AR 2000 L or AR 3000 L backpack battery, as well as the AR L Carrying System.
A blade scabbard is included to safely cover the blade when the hedge trimmer is not in use.

I was a little concerned that my existing AP100 batteries would not be sufficient, but I find the the battery life in use is longer than the recharge time, so I have had no problems at all and can conveniently swap batteries between this and my long reach trimmer.
