Intense vibrations through the handles can lead to longer term effects on the user's blood vessels. Therefore Stihl have included rubber buffers to reduce vibration levels through the handles to safe levels. The Stihl FS87 strimmers and brushcutters have a decompression system whereby a valve allows some of the compression pressure in the cylinder to escape, so less force on the starter rope is required. A manual fuel pump is another device which aids starting. It does this by delivering fuel to the carburettor with just a push of a button. This can reduce the number of starting strokes required following a large break in use. A multi-function control handle houses all of the engine controls so the user need only use their thumb to control the different functions; they are never required to remove their hand from the handle, making operation safer and more reliable.
